Alec's Story

Alec Flores was an 8th grader at Franklin Elementary School in Yuba City. He was walking west along Franklin Road on his way to school the morning of October 7, 2019 when he was struck by a drunk driver.

 

The driver did not remain at the scene, but several passersby witnessed the accident and stopped to assist Alec. His injuries were severe.

After being transported to Rideout Hospital, he was life-flighted to UC Davis Medical Center. He suffered from significant brain trauma and was taken off life support around 11 p.m. that evening.

Alec's parents worked with UC Davis Medical Center to identify viable organs for donation; ultimately his kidneys and retinas were donated.
